Two Things and a Memorial

• Negro Leagues Baseball Museum needs money.

  Twenty players from the Negro Leagues moved to the majors, seven of whom are living, including Willie Mays.
  
  "All these guys came way before me, but Monte (Irvin) told me about it. Monte played with and against a lot of these guys," Mays told me, referring to his old New York Giants teammate. "I know the history because of Monte."

• Sports wit:

  Was the All-Star voting suspicious? Not unless you think it's odd that the starting shortstop for the American League is Jimmy Hoffa.

In memoriam: Ernest Borgnine.  Who had varied roles, both heroic and villainous, and was still working.  I was reminded of him, oddly enough, by watching the remake of Willard a couple of months ago.
